Do You Know What You Are Attracting
I receive the daily Abraham-Hicks quotes and find them a great reminder to keep my head screwed on straight for the day. Today's quotation made me think of my last couple of posts - the one about the TV ads for medications and fussing about having no ambition. This is what A-H had to say:
"You cannot look at that which you do not want and not join and perpetuate that vibration. Take your attention from that which is not in harmony with who you are, and your "now vibration" will adjust to who you really are — and then you can uplift others."
Excerpted from a workshop in Portland, OR on Tuesday, June 10th, 1997
Okay. So I am working on the SAD and no ambition part in a positive manner: I'll ask a couple more questions to get more information, and I'm upping my exercise, getting outside more, and learning the Sedona Method releasing technique for starters. All good and positive things to do anyway. As for what's on TV, well, that's harder. I could just tune out when commercials come on. I do that a lot anyway, but obviously not enough to ignore the bad health ads. We have friends who don't have TV, but they keep up on favorite series by watching them in DVD. Now that's not a bad idea.
The question for all of us to ask is 'Where is our attention going?' Do you notice what you don't want, don't approve of, don't like and expect it to disappear? Or you revel in justifying your position? That's a bit like those posters we see around town "War Is Not the Answer". A better approach would be like the sole bumper sticker I saw that said, "Power to the Peaceful".
So where are you putting your attention and what are you attracting to yourself?
I've been wondering over the past couple of month why I can't seem to get out of my own way. There are things I want to do, but I seem to settle back into my old routine too easily and don't pursue my goals with the energy I've had in the past.
So what excuses can I come up with this time? Well, we've lived in the Pacific Northwest for over 25 years, and I think I've finally been afflicted with what is known as SAD - Seasonal Affective Disorder. It's also known as the winter blues. We've got long nights here and short days, and the majority of those days are cloudy. Bummer! I'm ecstatic when we have blue sky! Okay, so there's one. How about I've let myself get out of shape and could lose 20 pounds? Yeah, that always works for low energy. Or here's another one - I'm tired (oh oh - key word there!) of living here and want to move back to the East Coast. Miss fireflies, autumn foliage, four real seasons, and blue skies.
So what does this have to do with the law of attraction?
As usual, when I concentrate on one subject long enough, things start popping up. (LOA! LOA!) I figured that resistance was one of the problems, so, along comes Hale Dwoskin and the Sedona Method. Not in person, mind you, over the internet and in a book. If you've seen the movie The Secret, you've seen Hale. I can't say I was particularly impressed with his little vignette in the movie. It didn't really explain much of anything to me at the time. Then I met up with him again on Bob Doyle's website (another The Secret alumnus). Their audio interview was enough to get me to buy the book, The Sedona Method. I also sprang for shipping and handling and got their free intro cd and DVD.
This book is supposed to have the whole method in it. You don't need the audio course or need to go to the workshops. I'm maybe a third of the way through it. Wish I'd found this method decades ago! You can release emotions and make resistances disappear. And it really appears to work.
Hale and the Sedona Method may not take care of seasonal depression or being out of shape, but clearing out years worth of accumulated and compartmentalized emotions and resistance has got to help.
Well, the sky has patches of blue in it and a few rays of sunshine are peaking through, so I'm feeling better. Sorry for dumping on you. I'll explain more about the Sedona Method in another post and will keep you up to date on how it's working and my adventures with it. Going to go for a walk while it's blue outside.
"When the student is ready, the teacher appears."
Have you come across any tried and true, traditional quotes that imply the law of attraction? Some people seem to think that the law of attraction is some really new concept thought up by New Age Woo Woo people, but if you just pay attention, you'll find it in the most respected and traditional places. It just wasn't called the law of attraction then. If you can think of any of these old quotes or stories about the law of attraction, let me know. How about some Christian quotes and examples? Or from other religious traditions.
