The Opposite of Positive Thinking
Thoughts Are Things So Be Careful What You Think
A simple thought. So how damaging can that be? A simple thought can make your day. For example wake up and stub your toe on the way to the bathroom and you think, "Oh boy, it’s going to be that kind of day", and then you spend the rest of the day justifying that thought. This single thought has a significant impact not only on your body but mind and emotions. What you spend the most time thinking about in most cases occurs.
So what happens is your body takes these thoughts and produce a response? Okay, you say, "Not so, Mike". Well, let’s look at it this way. Imagine biting into a lemon. What kind of thoughts and reactions do you feel? I'll bet your taste buds have already responded with a sour taste, a tingly tongue, and maybe even more saliva. So what happened? You responded to the very thought of biting into the lemon which turned into a physical reaction.
Thoughts influence our emotions. Think of a food you really like. What do you feel? Think of food you hate. What do you feel? Go back to the food you like. So what just happened? In this exercise you didn’t change your emotions but changed your thoughts.
So just remember that a little negative thought can have a huge effect on your mind, body and emotions. The point I’m trying to make is that thoughts are very powerful. They can control our mind, body and emotions.
