But Personal Experience Does
Currently the most well know popular source of information about the Law of Attraction is from the DVD and the book The Secret. They say that like attracts like, and so what you think about will be attracted to you. Like a magnet.
Hokey Science of The Secret
There has been a lot of comment by naysayers that this is entirely bogus. In magnetism, opposites attract, not like things. So does negate the Law of Attraction? Or does this say that the 'teachers' are using a bad example?
The Science of People
When it comes to people, can you use scientific testing on motivations, feelings, and attitudes and get anything other than a bell shaped curve of testimonials? Probably not. That makes comparisons of the law of attraction to magnetism and the law of gravity great explanations for the person who wants the general idea but very unsatisfactory for the literal minded.
The idea that people send out vibrations was pooh-poohed by a scientist interviewed by CBS News. To his knowledge, there was no evidence of human vibrations ever having been observed, measured, or calculated, so that theory doesn't appeal to the scientific mind either. On the other hand, ask a parent who walks into the room where her or his kids have done something they shouldn't have. They don't even have to look around to know something is going on.
Do You Want Science or Achievable Results?
In my experience, if you want to be around happy people, start being happy yourself. Either you will bring others along with you, or the gloomy people will go away and contented people will want to be around you. If you are working diligently toward setting and achieving your goals, people with no goals will find you intimidating or boring. People who are achievers themselves will be more interested in you. People want to hang around people who are like themselves. If you are devoting yourself to a certain subject, you will connect with like minded people and you will find more opportunities opening up to you in those areas.
If you want results, setting goals, believing in what you are doing, and pursuing those goals with diligence and intelligence will "attract" positive results. Is this science, Laws of the Universe, or just common sense? Does it matter? Tell us what you think.
